Congress Theme

The 2028 World Congress offers a variety of topics fitting the different PIANC core activities around maritime and inland navigation, environment & sustainability and recreation & marinas. The common themes throughout the congress are climate change, sustainability, innovation and decarbonisation
(eg. low emission fuels, hydrogen, … ).

As we speak, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, hosting the second largest petrochemical industry in the world, is at the heart of the sustainable transition. There’s no better moment to host this world congress in Antwerp.
